Kindness and gentle motivating will go a long way in accomplishing this feat. Once ready, a patient will also take care of the horse on a day to day basis to create a symbiotic relationship. - Mindfulness – Mindfulness is defined as being in the present moment, focusing on thoughts, feelings, one’s surrounding or bodily sensations, accepting and putting aside painful emotions without judgment. A proven treatment not just for depression but trauma.
- Stress management – A trained therapist can sit down with a patient and figure out what stresses the patient on a daily basis. By making a list of these stressors together, the mental health professional and their patient can work on coping and working through these issues
- Yoga –A more abstract but helpful therapy for some. This exercise helps not just with physical flexibility and strength but mental balance and clarity. Yoga helps one breathe deep and focus on their present moment instead of the problems in their life. This is a vital way to gain perspective and feel in control of life again.
- Meditation –Mindful meditation has the patient pay attention to their internal processes (such as thoughts and feelings) in a logical, patient way. This isn’t a passive experience. It is one of a focused introspection not often done in the hustle and bustle of daily life.
